Now, onto the Gig itself. We want to start our collection of weather sound effects that will plunge players in an environment through sound. Now, unlike those relaxation 'sounds of nature' tracks, we're going for a visceral, high definition feel for each piece of weather. Think of each track like a Lego block, allowing users to build a setting using layers of these and other pieces to create a unique environment. Below are the details of each track required by this track
Rain - Three varieties. Each track must loop clean and be no less than 30 seconds long (longer tracks would be preferable but not required). Each must have some depth, variation (no obvious embedded loops). No background (i.e. forest, jungle, city, etc) just the sound of rain hitting a neutral surface, pools of water, etc. We want the Game Master to put use these rain tracks in any environment.
- Light Rain
- Moderate Rain
- Torrential Downpour
Wind - Same as above. Three varieties. Each track must loop clean and be no less than 30 seconds long (longer tracks would be preferable but not required). Each must have some depth, variation (no obvious embedded loops). No background (i.e. forest, jungle, city, etc) just the sound of wind. We want the Game Master to put use these wind tracks in any environment.
- Stiff Breeze
- Storm Wind
- Category 5 Hurricane
Lightning - Various varieties of different lengths
- Single, clear, crisp, high-def lightning strike. No set length but don't cut off the rumble too soon.
- A series of lightning strikes in quick succession. Some separated by a second or so, others overlapping. Longer than the single strike but shorter than below. This must loop cleanly.
- A lightning storm! With a run time of roughly 30 seconds, we want to hear one angry thunderstorm with cascading claps of thunder separated by short lived pauses to add a sense of reality. We don't want a fantasy, magic fueled lightning apocalypse (that's a different Gig), just give us the VERY WORST that real life Mother Nature has to offer. This must loop cleanly.
Above all, we want to really hear the quality. Get these weather tracks to sound as realistic as possible. A way to know that you're on the right track is creating layers of what you're building. If each piece manages to create an organic whole, you're very likely on target.
Please note that there will be no tolerance for stolen work, so make sure that submitted auditions are original compositions and that you have 100% rights to use and sell everything that you submit for consideration.
If you have any questions, please shoot us over a message through Audio Catch, we'll try to answer all of it, don't be shy. Good luck!!!
