Creative Brief – Table Top Babble Podcast
    Theme Song

BattleBards is helping a great new podcast work with its premier talent to source a wonderful theme track to usher in each broadcast. The Gig is for a single, 30 second musical track, Buyout.

Table Top Babble is a new tabletop Role-Playing Game (RPG) advice, news, interviews, and reviews show that features accessible discussion about trending gaming topics. We'll cover new products, hot designers and authors, and talk with some great DMs about how they run their games. Conversations will be light, but we'll take the topics and gaming seriously. Think of it like a news magazine show for tabletop RPG’s.

As a podcast looking to invite some of the biggest movers and shakers in the industry, we’d like the theme to reflect a sense of professionalism, so the track must feel extremely well-polished. However, the subject is still gaming, not financial banking instruments, so a good measure of fun, buoyancy, and spirit is critical. Simplicity with a catchy melody and harmony is the target here so avoid anything overly dramatic, very high energy, or with multiple peaks and valleys. However, avoid composing a generic ‘game show-esque’ theme, the only subject matter being discussed here is gaming so the theme must reflect a world of adventure.

We are looking for a 30 second, musical theme that matches the subject and tone of the podcast. The track should provide a good spot to fade out at the 15 second mark (for short intros) and complete naturally at around the 30 second mark (we can give or take a couple seconds on each).

Talent as free range to select instruments as they wish but we’d like to avoid overly complicated orchestration as to make the theme quick to recognize whether listening in a crowded Starbucks or in the car.

The following tracks have been identified as providing a good basis for inspiration into the feel, energy, and direction this track requires. Please note that there will be no tolerance for stolen work, so make sure that submitted auditions are original compositions and that you have 100% rights to use and sell any samples or loops you embed.

Total Party Thrill (Theme from 0:00 to 0:32)

Simple, clean, light yet harkening to an almost Jeopardy like motif which conjures the feeling of a professional and smart show, the theme here provides some idea as to the target for this Gig. However, although composed of a major central melody, we’d like something that ‘sticks in your ear’ a bit more, something that feels more memorable. Moreover, the orchestration is perhaps a bit too simple as we’d like to provide a slightly richer tapestry of instrumentation. Lastly, the theme feels too generic for our purposes. The focus of our show is gaming and this theme could be one that you’d hear for almost any subject. We want to be sure that anyone listening to this theme knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that we’ll be discussing the world of games.
