In many popular table-top gaming systems, there exist a collection of different languages which are unique to the various races that inhabit them. This time around, OCGG would like to give life to the oldest language in most fantasy game settings, Celestial / Angelic, the language the Angels, of the incarnation of good itself

Although an odd metaphor, the angelic language is akin to glass, it is smooth and precise. The avoidance of harsh consonants is a likely requirement similar to what we hear as Elven in mainstream movies. The Lord of the Rings trilogy has some wonderful Elven to refer to but the angelic language is even softer and flows more like soft vocalized music than a pure language. In fact, the challenge here is differentiating this language from Elven since the nuances are likely so similar. Hard ‘C’s, ‘K’s are far and few between and although some form of grammar needs to be apparent, a focus on the ‘flowy’ nature of the language should stand out. Using real world languages as a metaphor, Celestial is likely far removed from Russian, German, and other Slavic Languages and more akin to French, Italian, and Latin. Still, don’t be tempted to simply repurpose some Latin script since we are looking for that fantasy quality that helps gamers see that this is the language spoken by a paragon of good.

This Gig is for 5 (five) short, roughly 7 – 10 second clips and 1 (one) longer, 15 - 20 second clip, of spoken Angelic in various different tones and emotions in order to maximize use in a wide range of in-game situations. They are as follows:

    7 – 10 second clips, each
    1. Neutral, baseline, conversational
    2. Joyous, light-hearted, happy
    3. Confrontational, warning
    4. Defiant, resolute, commanding
    5. Fatherly/Motherly, loving, uplifting

    15 - 20 second clip
    1. Formal conversation

That’s it, there is no script, that’s up to you to create on the fly, as long as the voice overs show the characteristics covered, you should be in good shape. We want creativity, we want insight into these paragon creatures through these voices.

Auditioning: We understand that your time is valuable, if you are not able to submit an audition containing all of these pieces, we ask that you submit an audition containing the 15 – 20 second piece and 2 of the 5 shorter pieces. Please do not include any music or sound effects in the auditions, however, adding textures to the voices through some sound engineering would be welcome and might help to add a sense of power to the language that we are looking for. Most of all, have fun creating these voice overs, you are giving voice to a language and your leeway for creative license is boundless.
Please note that there will be no tolerance for stolen work, so make sure that submitted auditions are original compositions and that you have 100% rights to use and sell any samples or loops you embed.
